Strangles Update

Strangles is caused by the bacteria Strep. equi-equi and gets its name from the severe swelling of the lymph nodes in the throat area that can inhibit the horses breathing if there is no medical intervention. This disease is not transmittable to humans or other farm animals outside of the equine species (horses, donkeys, and mules). Lameness Evaluation & Performance Medicine
Advanced gait and movement assessments, flexion tests, nerve blocks, radiography referrals, and individualized treatment plans to support sport, ranch, and pleasure horses.

Emergency & Urgent Care
Mobile response for colic, wounds, illness, foaling complications, acute lameness, and urgent medical needs, providing prompt care directly on-site.

Equine Dentistry
Power and hand-floating, bite evaluation, dental balancing, and management of hooks, waves, and points to ensure comfort, performance, and proper digestion.

Senior & Chronic Care Support
Management plans for aging horses, including joint care, metabolic conditions, nutrition adjustments, and long-term health monitoring.

Diagnostics & Laboratory Testing
Bloodwork, fecal testing, cytology, basic ultrasound, and other field diagnostics to support early detection and accurate treatment planning.

Medication & Treatment Management
On-site administration of medications, IV/IM injections, fluid therapy, wound care, and customized recovery plans.
